My art functions through performance, installation, music, storytelling, both in print and via live reading. The work ignites a litany of properties in each context, whether it be the intimacy of being face to face with a painting or engulfed in a room of projected light, disappearing into a fictive space that’s transformative for the viewer. There is something vital at stake with each exhibition model.
I am mixing fiction writing, drawing, and music to reveal art-making’s commonality in various forms. Long term spiritual food and some real bread, is a multimedia art project. It’s a story about a special generation that grew up in Beijing in the 1990s and while figuring out the maze of life and the idea of being a human. I also created a soundtrack and a series of digital drawings from the same gene pool: the book’s emotion. I am exploring methods of combining graphics, text, and various narrative strategies.
